The project involves the development, construction, operation, and maintenance of a 58 Mega Watt greenfield gas-based power plant in Mazar-i-Sharif, in northern Afghanistan.  

Sponsored by Ghazanfar Group and Hassan Allam Holding Utilities, the project cost is $89 million with $62 million financing. The lenders include International Finance Corporation, the Asian Development Bank, and the German Investment Corporation.
